About the event

Three summer running distances on the Somerset Levels

The Thorney Lakes event offers three distances: a Half Marathon, a 10.7km run and a 5.3km run. All three start and finish at Thorney Lakes, close to Langport and Muchelney in the heart of the Somerset Levels.

Much of the 5.3km and 10.7km routes will be out and back. Because of the road and route options immediately around Thorney Lakes, using out-and-back sections is the only practical way to make these shorter distances available while keeping the same start and finish venue.

The route heads out from Thorney Lakes into the surrounding rural landscape, where the Levels are known for open views, quiet lanes and a distinctly flat Somerset setting. It is designed as a relaxed, welcoming event rather than a large city race.

There will be three aid stations around the course, positioned at approximately 5km intervals. Runners, walkers and Jeffers are welcome, and every finisher receives a recorded finish time.
